Welcome to NYC.

A few things to that might come in handy:

the bronx is up and the battery’s down
the people ride in a hole in the ground

tip your bartender 5 bucks on first round, and third round will be a buy back (free round) (at real Irish bars)
tip your cabbie 15%

commenting to and striking up random conversations on the street is normal and encouraged

at the deli, a “regular” coffee is milk and way too much sugar. but still better than starbucks

at the deli, when the guy/gal in front of you sez “lemme getta” whatever, they are not being rude, it’s just shorthand

You are lucky that the Mr. Softee trucks have been banned from incessantly playing their tune night and day

Friday at 2:00 - get the heck out of the office - everybody else in the media biz is - even if you have no summer escape - go to the park or the pier

Lots of great concerts weekends in Central Park

Take the subway - guaranteed faster than any other form of transportation - carry hand sanitizer!!

The Post is a piece of garbage (good only for Sports and Gossip), The News is one of the worst papers published in America (good ONLY for Sports) - you’ll learn more from the Times and the Free Morning Papers

Have fun with the random conversations. The street is what makes this city the greatest place on earth.
